Digital waste tracking: the clock is running

From 1 October 2026, operators of permitted or licensed waste receiving sites in England and Wales must record the waste they receive on the UK government's new digital waste tracking service, with Scotland and Northern Ireland following from January 2027. Waste carriers, brokers and dealers are expected to be brought into the service in a later phase, currently planned for October 2027.

RecyclyERP handles it as part of normal operations:

  • The daily Defra-format waste receipt export is built automatically from booked loads
  • Every row is validated, and hazardous-waste columns are filled from EWC codes
  • A daily export screen and reminder banner make sure no day is missed
  • The Environment Agency Waste Tonnage Return ("Received Asset Weight by Collection and EWC Code") runs from the same records

Fully automatic submission to Defra is planned for 2027.

RecyclyERP is improving constantly: 12 releases so far in 2026, roughly one a fortnight, all included.

Environmental impact, measured automatically

RecyclyERP calculates the CO2e avoided for every item and every job automatically, using configurable emission factor sets, and rolls the results into an Environmental Impact Report for any job or customer period. Back-office ESG reporting with drill-down keeps your own numbers audit-ready.

Your customers see it too: the customer portal includes an ESG dashboard showing each client the environmental impact of their recycled kit, alongside their per-asset erasure and destruction certificates.

Coming this autumn: customer Scope 3 emissions figures, materials recovered and critical minerals reporting.

Scrap management is arriving from this autumn: approved downstream destinations, approved waste carriers and scrap shipments, all tracked in RecyclyERP.
